Jack Bauer’s new nightmare day returns to Sky1 on January 24th with a two-hour episode set in the Big Apple.
Season eight sees a new threat to Bauer and after watching this brief teaser trailer via YouTube, it promises to be more tense and dramatic.
As to what we should expect in the next 24 episodes, the official Sky1 website has provided some details on Day 8. See the full extract below:
When we last saw Jack Bauer (Golden Globe® and Emmy® winner Kiefer Sutherland), his life was hanging in the balance. But, true to form, the hardest man in television is back for another heart stopping, action-packed series of the award-winning US drama series 24. With a relocation to New York, the return of CTU and new exciting cast additions, this season looks set to follow Day 7 in being one of the best yet when it returns to Sky1 HD and Sky1 on Sunday 24 January.
At the start of 24’s new, eighth season, Bauer is hoping for a quiet life with his daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert, Captivity) and his granddaughter. However, a group of terrorists have other plans and an assassination plot against a visiting Middle Eastern leader Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor, Slumdog Millionaire) is uncovered. It’s not long before Bauer is called upon to help prevent Hassan’s murder.
Kiefer Sutherland said: “Season 7 and 8…are really connected together. The storylines from Season 7 really do play all the way through into Season 8. The setup for [this season] is the most realistic political thing that I think we’ve ever done since we started the show. This season is more grounded in what possibly could happen. There’s a sense of reality that almost brings it back to Season 1.”
CTU is back in action and based in New York, headed up by Special Agent Brian Hastings (Mykelti Williamson, Forrest Gump). He is joined by brainy bombshell Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff, Battlestar Galactica) and her fiancé, head of field operation Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr, I Know What You Did Last Summer).
Returning for Day 8 are CTU devotee Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub, Little Miss Sunshine), Renee Walker (Annie Wersching, General Hospital) and President Allison Taylor played by Cherry Jones (Ocean’s Twelve) fresh from her Emmy® win for her work on Day 7. Plus, villainous ex-president Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin, The Mentalist) is set to return when Taylor enlists him to assist with an escalating crisis. “The opportunity for these two remarkable actors to share the stage was simply too compelling to pass up,” said executive producer Howard Gordon of the unison of the current and previous presidents.
It all sounds great and I look forward to seeing Bauer Action Hour every Sunday night from January 24th!

Kiefer Sutherland, the star of the hit real-time drama 24, talks about the show in this new interview with Parade.com. He says that not only will a New York City setting revitalize the show a bit, he confesses that no one believes they’ve ever done a perfect season of the show, and they want to keep doing it until they do. Kiefer also says that he’d love to keep doing the show until he’s 60 years old, but “nobody would accept it.”

Well having got the first two episodes watched how do i feel so far?
Hmmmmmm is the best way i think. I hate the new uber tech CTU. I mean come on, Drones that are supposed to fire missiles out the air!!!!!! WTF, so we got the much hyped and abandoned Star Wars defense system from years ago have we but completely mobile and the best camera and zooming ever created? Get the hell out of here man. If more shite like this is to come from CTU then this could be the worst season for me. It’s already took me right out of the show, so it needs to get good without CTU. But I fear there will be plenty of “Jumping The Shark” moments to come. Oh dear….
And it’s oh dear also, for what do we have YET AGAIN? Yep someone conveniently on the inside and one very close to the Middle Eastern leader, Anil ‘who wants to be a mullionaire’ Kapoor. Sigh……BORING!!!!
Elton posted a link where Kiefer and co. have said they have yet to do a perfect season. Well they wont be doing it here either. Sorry guys, but yet again you think bigger and techier is better. Your soooooo wrong and it’s getting beyond a joke.
Oh and you what else pissed me off? it’s only small, but since I was miffed with the show so far, i wasn’t in the best mood anyways. It was one of the staff ( the bloke far left of Elton picture ) at CTU who came over to two people talking about Jack Bauer and piped up “Who’s Jack Bauer?”. Your effing kidding right? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So someone, someone American, who after JB saved the country SEVEN times before AND worked in CTU doesn’t know who the eff Jack Bauer is?! That’s oh dear No.3
But NYC is a nice change and there are hints that the show could get pretty good outside of CTU. It is of course early days as well, so I’m still invested and after 7 series it’s silly to leave now anyway. And it could be the end of Jack, which kinda lends weight to the fact that Kim Bauer sent her Dad to his last day alive. Oooooops!
Great to hear your opinions Nigel. The new CTU office in New York doesn’t look like a place for business, more like a location to hangout and have some drinks! Too much like a nightclub and why is everyone wearing Bluetooth headsets? It looks ridiculous! As for that CTU agent who doesn’t know Jack Bauer, do some research on your fancy glass desktop or dig up some archive files on Mr J Bauer profile! He saved the world (well North America to be honest) seven times and despite losing friends and family along the way, he has safe guarded the country against terrorism. “Who is Jack Bauer?” Gimme a break…
As for the mole working inside, this storyline has been done so many times. Think back to the evil Nina double crossing Jack and the President’s shady staff with different motives. Come on 24 writers, provide us with a new take not revisiting past plotlines!
Despite this, I still enjoy 24 and Kiefer Sutherland is simply amazing in the role as Jack Bauer. It’s quite incredible that 24 is his first television role after making so many bad movies in his career. Now, if Kiefer stars in a film (like Mirrors), the actor is typecasted as that CTU agent that never sleeps and says “Dammit!” a lot.
The change of location is a nice feature and I simply adore New York City. I went to visit the Big Apple last year and it is a great place to see and do. Watching Jack Bauer and co in NYC is great and I hope we get to see the gorgeous city in the night as the clock ticks into the evening.
As for Kim Bauer. One word – MILF!
